ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has celebrated Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem’s historic achievement with a substantial cash reward of Rs 100 million, as reported by ARY News on Thursday.
The honor was conferred at a ceremony held at the President’s House, where Nadeem was also presented with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s second-highest civilian award.
Arshad Nadeem, who secured a gold medal in javelin throw at the Paris Olympics, was commended by President Zardari for his dedication and exceptional performance. The President highlighted that Nadeem’s success serves as a significant source of inspiration for young athletes throughout the nation.
In addition to the cash prize, President Zardari proposed scholarships for athletes’ children to support future talent in sports. He also plans to seek further contributions from the Sindh government to honor Nadeem’s remarkable achievements.
The President expressed his hope that Nadeem will continue to bring honor to Pakistan in future international competitions.
Earlier in the day, Arshad Nadeem received the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his groundbreaking performance at the Paris Olympics 2024. This award was approved on August 10 under Article 259 (2) of the Constitution, as announced by the President Secretariat Press Wing.
