Athletes from twelve countries, including Pakistan, India, Tajikistan, Iran, and Bahrain, displayed their prowess in a highly competitive environment. Out of the eight Pakistani fighters who participated in the quarter-finals, three successfully advanced to the semi-finals, delighting the home crowd. Meanwhile, Tajik and Bahraini fighters delivered impressive performances, while Indian competitors struggled to make an impact.

 *A Showcase of Martial Skill*

The Asian MMA Championship, hosted at the Defense Sports Complex, brought together some of the finest fighters from across the continent. With 33 quarter-final matches spanning various weight categories, the event attracted significant attention from MMA enthusiasts. The competition included elements of boxing and wrestling, alongside traditional mixed martial arts, testing the fighters’ versatility and skill.

Tajikistan and Bahrain emerged as dominant forces, with their fighters excelling in the quarter-finals. Pakistan’s representation was strong, with eight fighters participating. Among them, Abdul Manan, Zeeshan Akbar, and Shahab Ali advanced to the semi-finals, showcasing their talents and determination.

Abdul Manan, competing in the 56.7 kg flyweight category, defeated his Kyrgyzstani opponent with a display of precise striking and solid grappling. His victory set a positive tone for the Pakistani team.

Zeeshan Akbar, in the 61.2 kg bantamweight category, also faced a Kyrgyzstani opponent and dominated the fight. His striking accuracy and defensive skills secured him a spot in the semi-finals, further boosting Pakistan’s presence in the competition.

The most dramatic victory came from Shahab Ali, who competed in the 70.3 kg category against an Iranian fighter. Ali’s knockout win earned widespread praise and secured his place in the semi-finals, marking one of the event’s highlights.

While Pakistani fighters celebrated their success, the Indian team faced difficulties, with none of their fighters advancing to the semi-finals. The semi-finals, scheduled for Wednesday, are expected to be exciting, especially with the inclusion of women fighters for the first time in the tournament. Event organizer Umar expressed satisfaction with the competition’s overall level and praised the success of Pakistani fighters, noting that 11 of them have reached the semi-finals across different weight categories.
