After bowing out from Test cricket on Friday, fast bowling veteran James Anderson received praise from some of the greats of the game.
England’s veteran pacer James Anderson bid farewell to Test cricket as the third-highest wicket-taker to grace the game.
Anderson, 41, took four wickets in the Test match to finish on 704 career scalps in the format, the third behind Muttiah Muralidaran and the late Shane Warne.
England thumped West Indies by an innings and 114 runs in the Test match. Some of the greats of the game, both past and present, took to social media to acknowledge Anderson’s contribution for over two decades to cricket.
Here are some of them.
Tough to sum up a man’s entire career in a few sentences.
Bud, you have been fantastic.
Thank you so much for all these years of incredible inspiration and dramatic duels we’ve had.
I was there to watch today. Some things one just shouldn’t miss.

Congratulations to James Anderson on a great career. I never thought it was possible for a seam bowler to play that many years/test matches at such a high level of consistency. Hopefully he is allowed to use 21 years of knowledge, skill and greatness to build the next generation.
