Afghanistan Cricketer Ihsanullah Janat Banned for Five Years Over Corruption Charges
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Wednesday that Ihsanullah Janat, a former top-order international batter, has been banned from all cricketing activities for five years after admitting to involvement in “corrupt activities” during a domestic league.
The 26-year-old, who is the younger brother of former Afghan captain and selector Nawroz Mangal, was once considered a promising talent. Janat has represented Afghanistan in three Test matches, 16 One-Day Internationals, and one Twenty20 International.

According to the ACB, Janat’s ban is the result of breaches of the ACB and ICC (International Cricket Council) Anti-Corruption Codes during the second edition of the Kabul Premier League in 2024. In their statement, the ACB revealed that Janat confessed to the charges, acknowledging his role in corrupt activities.
The ban is effective immediately, and the ACB also noted that investigations are ongoing into three other unidentified players suspected of match-fixing. The swift action by the ACB underscores their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport.
